Hi all, NLNOG Live! Is just 2,5 weeks away and we already have some great talks lined up. Bert Hubert will be talking about career development and salaries, Ariën Vijn about TR-069 (a new Star Wars character?), Dave Meyer & Dino Farinacci will discuss internet engineering history and we’re very busy securing some other very cool talks. But there will be more! If you have an address in NL, we will send you a free NLNOG T-shirt if you register: https://nlnog.net/nlnog-live/ <https://nlnog.net/nlnog-live/> This time, all the art work will be from Natasha Allegri. Did you see what she already created for our speakers? If you don’t have an address in NL, and you still want to receive the T-shirt, please choose for a paid ticket so we can cover the shipping costs. Please order your T-shirt before Monday 24 August (!!) so we can get them to you in time for the event. You don’t need Zoom or the likes to attend, thanks to our legendary A/V crew, the event will stream from our website and YouTube. We are also working on a place where you can socialise and chat so we can finally catch up with each other again. And finally, if you have a cool topic that you would like to present about, let us know! We’d love to hear from you. On behalf of the NLNOG Crew, Nathalie

Spoofer Report for NLNOG for Jul 2020
by CAIDA Spoofer Project 08 Aug '20

08 Aug '20

In response to feedback from operational security communities, CAIDA's source address validation measurement project (https://spoofer.caida.org) is automatically generating monthly reports of ASes originating prefixes in BGP for systems from which we received packets with a spoofed source address. We are publishing these reports to network and security operations lists in order to ensure this information reaches operational contacts in these ASes. This report summarises tests conducted within nld. Inferred improvements during Jul 2020: ASN Name Fixed-By 208046 HostSlick-Germany 2020-07-18 Further information for the inferred remediation is available at: https://spoofer.caida.org/remedy.php Source Address Validation issues inferred during Jul 2020: ASN Name First-Spoofed Last-Spoofed 8587 Infracom 2019-10-28 2020-07-08 209299 VITOX-TELECOM 2019-12-15 2020-07-31 213371 2020-07-02 2020-07-30 213251 2020-07-30 2020-07-30 Further information for these tests where we received spoofed packets is available at: https://spoofer.caida.org/recent_tests.php?country_include=nld&no_block=1 Please send any feedback or suggestions to spoofer-info(a)caida.org

NLNOG Live! Today at 14:00 CEST (12:00 UTC)
by Nathalie Trenaman 22 Jul '20

22 Jul '20

Hi all, In just a few hours we’ll have our first virtual event: NLNOG Live! The good news is, there is no registration and no need for Zoom :) We’ll stream live from https://nlnog.net/nlnog-live/ <https://nlnog.net/nlnog-live/> and from our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJcRDvbvL4s <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJcRDvbvL4s> As usual, we have some top-notch presentations lined up for you. We’ll kick off with Evelyn Austin from Bits of Freedom who will talk us through the latest news on the Corona app and talks about facial recognition. After that, we have Massimo Candela showing us how to set up BGP Alerter for RPKI alerting. After the 15 minute coffee break it’s time for Jochem and Steven de Ruig (yes, brothers) to talk about how to make a budget for technical departments and we end today with our own Niels and Job who will discuss how to build Out of Band networks. Questions can be asked during the event at #nlnog on IRC or on the YouTube chat. If you want Melchior to relay your question to the presenter after the presentation, start your comment or question with a “Q” so Melchior can easily spot them. Be aware there is a little delay, so ask your questions before the presentation is finished! We hope you enjoy todays session and don’t forget to mark Friday 4 September in your calendar. There won’t be a physical event this year, but we do have some surprises in store for you! Cheers, Melchior, Job, Niels, Thomas and Nathalie

Call for Presentations RIPE 81
by Jelte Jansen 16 Jul '20

16 Jul '20

Dear colleagues, Please find the CfP for RIPE 81 below or at: https://ripe81.ripe.net/submit-topic/cfp/. The deadline for submissions is *30 August 2020*. Kind regards, Jelte Jansen on behalf of the RIPE Programme Committee pc(a)ripe.net --- Call for Presentations *RIPE 81 will take place online between the 27th - 30th October 2020* The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals from the RIPE community for the plenary sessions and lightning talks. We will be working with the NCC Meeting Team to facilitate BoF sessions, but due to the lack of physical constraints we do not envisage rejecting any BoF applications. There are no plans for workshops or tutorials as part of this meeting. More detail on the presentation formats can be found here: https://ripe81.ripe.net/submit-topic/presentation-formats/ Proposals for these sessions must be submitted for full consideration no later than August 30th 2020. Proposals submitted after this date will be considered depending on the slots still available in the programme. The PC is looking for presentations covering the topics of network engineering and operations, including but not limited to: - IPv6 deployment - Managing IPv4 scarcity - Data centre technologies - Network and DNS operations - Internet governance and regulatory practices - Network and routing security - Content delivery - Internet peering and mobile data exchange - Connected Things (aka. Internet of Things - IoT) ---- Submissions ---- Presenters should be clear on whether they wish to submit a presentation for a plenary or working group (WG) session. At present, most working groups will solicit policy proposals, discussion points or other content directly via their mailing lists. If you’re not sure what kind of session you should be presenting at, please visit: https://ripe81.ripe.net/submit-topic/plenary-or-wg/ RIPE Meeting attendees are quite sensitive to keeping presentations non-commercial, and product marketing talks are strongly discouraged. Repeated audience feedback shows that the most successful talks focus on operational experience, research results, or case studies. For example, presenters wishing to describe a commercial solution should focus on the underlying technology and should not attempt a product demonstration. Presenters should indicate how much time they will require. In general, the time allocated for the different presentation formats is as follows: - Plenary presentations: 20-25 minutes presentation with 5-10 minutes discussion - BoFs: approximately one hour - Lightning talks: 10 minutes in total for both the presentation and any discussion The following general requirements apply: - Proposals must be submitted using the meeting submission system, https://ripe81.ripe.net/submit-topic/submission-form/ - Lightning talks should also be submitted using the meeting submission system (https://ripe81.ripe.net/submit-topic/submission-form/) and can be submitted any time up to and including the meeting week. The allocation of lightning talks will be announced on short notice, in some cases on the same day but often one day prior to the time slot allocated. - Presenters who propose a panel or BoF are encouraged to include speakers from several (perhaps even competing) companies and/or a neutral facilitator. - All presentation proposals will only be considered by the PC if they contain at least draft presentation slides (slides may be updated later on). For panels, proposals must contain a clear description, as well as the names of invited panellists, presenters and moderators. ---- Diversity and Inclusion - The RIPE Meeting Code of Conduct ---- Ensuring that RIPE Meeting values are upheld and that attendees experience a professional, respectful and safe meeting is a priority. Please do read the RIPE Meeting Code of Conduct: https://www.ripe.net/participate/meetings/ripe-meetings/ripe-meeting-code-o… --- If you have any questions or requests concerning content submissions, please email pc(a)ripe.net.

outdated transit-free AS list
by Van Steen, Steven 16 Jun '20

16 Jun '20

Hi, Was just looking at https://www.seattleix.net/rs-drops which is nice work but then saw that reference to http://bgpfilterguide.nlnog.net/guides/no_transit_leaks/ ... Any chance you could update the known transit-free networks; as that's more than just a little outdated. I mean you've got like 209, 702, 3549, 3561 and 4134 still in there and are actually missing 3491, 6830 and 12956. Thanks, Steven Van Steen Director Data Interconnect Operation & Integration T + 31 20 778 8537 Liberty Global B.V. Boeing Avenue 53 1119 PE Schiphol-Rijk The Netherlands

15 Jun '20

Hi! Sander
