Free BGP/RPKI routing health check for your ASN — feedback welcome
by N&R consulting 16 Jul '26

16 Jul '26

Hi all, French network engineer here (MPLS backbone operations). I built a small free tool that gives any ASN a routing health check in about 30 seconds, in the browser, no signup: https://sentinelle-routage.fr/en/ What it checks (data from RIPEstat, via a caching proxy): - RIS visibility of your announced prefixes - RPKI/ROA coverage and invalid originations - BGP neighbors overview - an overall grade, with a warning when low visibility may be legitimate (anycast, regional networks) It started on the FRnOG list three weeks ago, where the feedback (including a few sharp reviews) led to fixes: edge caching against RIPEstat rate-limits, false-positive warnings, and an English version. About 200 distinct ASNs have been checked so far. Known limitations, to be upfront: the RPKI check runs on a prefix sample, and there is no IRR consistency check yet (needs a backend, planned). I'm now building the continuous monitoring version (hijack/leak/ROA alerts by email/Telegram + a monthly routing compliance report aimed at NIS2/MANRS) and looking for a handful of founding networks to shape it in beta. If that's interesting, there's a form on the site, or just reply here. Feedback on the scoring logic is very welcome, especially edge cases where the grade feels wrong. Thanks, Abdelaziz EL-BORGI

In response to feedback from operational security communities, CAIDA's source address validation measurement project (https://spoofer.caida.org) is automatically generating monthly reports of ASes originating prefixes in BGP for systems from which we received packets with a spoofed source address. We are publishing these reports to network and security operations lists in order to ensure this information reaches operational contacts in these ASes. This report summarises tests conducted within nld. by Robert van der Meulen 06 Jul '26

06 Jul '26

Hoi allemaal, hi all! (English text can be found below) Het is bijna weer zover: op Vrijdag 4 September organiseren we NLNOG Day 2026, ditmaal in Gooiland in Hilversum. (English) It's almost that time of the year again: On Friday the 4th of September we're organizing NLNOG Day 2026, this time in Gooiland in Hilversum. We have just opened the ticketstore, and everybody can sign up. As always, attendance is free for everyone thanks to the help of all of our amazing sponsors - but we're offering the possibility to help out in sponsoring us by offering paid tickets as well. All tickets are available via https://nlnog.net/tickets . Behind the scenes we are working to fill the programme for this NLNOG Day with lots of presentations on interesting topics. As we have a larger location this year, we don't expect to have to dissapoint anybody with a sold-out event. Still we'd like to ask you to reserve your ticket already, so we can get a good picture of the amount of attendees. For some extra help in convincing your manager or employer, on https://nlnog.net/why-should-i-attend/ there is a useful overview with some good reasons why you really shouldn't skip this event :) Lastly we are still looking for more interesting talks, so if you have a nice topic, and want to help out by presenting, please do register your proposal via the registration page on https://nlnog.net/cfp . We're hoping to see you on the 4th of September in Hilversum! Met vriendelijke groet, kind regards, On behalf of the NLNOG Board Robert van der Meulen

by Willem Toorop 23 Jun '26

23 Jun '26

This workshop will be a hybrid event. Date - 09-10 November 2026 Location - Vancouver, British Columbia Times - approximately 10:00-17:00 PDT (Local time PDT is UTC -7; note that British Columbia has opted to remain on PDT all year round) Deadline for Submissions - 2026-08-24 23:59 UTC https://indico.dns-oarc.net/event/58/abstracts/ All DNS-related subjects and discussion topics are welcome although we're particularly keen to hear more about operational and security related experiences, best practices and practical advice; both for newcomers to the DNS arena and those who have been around for longer who want to learn more about new features and opportunities to improve resilience, security and privacy. (These topics we think will complement the usual high-quality data-based research submissions we always hope to receive!) If you have something interesting to share with the community that lies outside of the focus above, please don't be put off - if it's good, we'll be happy to include it. You can also contact us directly at submissions(a)dns-oarc.net if you would like to ask about the suitability of a potential presentation submission topic. If you'd like to offer a talk, but are not quite sure what to pick, here's a non-exhaustive list of ideas: 1. Operations & Deployment * Configuration management, deployment processes, and interoperability experiences. * Tools, tips, and making effective use of DNS software features. 2. Performance, Resilience & Scaling * Provisioning, load-balancing, and planning for resilience. * DNS performance management, efficiency improvements, and metrics. * Monitoring infrastructure: log pipelines, analytics, and anomaly detection. 3. Security, Privacy & Policy * DoS attacks, DNS abuse, DNSSEC signing and validation. * Privacy considerations, for example: encrypted transport, qname minimization, data anonymization. * Relevant global and regional policies, legislation, and compliance. 4. Research & Innovation * Data-driven testing, measurement, and analysis. * New protocols, protocol extensions, and next-generation namespace management. 5. Lessons & Learnings * Outage experiences, recovery stories, and cautionary tales For further details please see https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc47 Willem Toorop, for the DNS-OARC Programme Committee

Hoi allemaal, hi all! (English text can be found below) Afgelopen vrijdag organiseerden we ‘lekker Weer NLNOG’, ons jaarlijkse event nét voor de zomervakanties beginnen, waarbij we interessante talks combineren met drankjes, lekker eten en gezelligheid. NLNOG Day 2026: Call for presentations and location news!
by Robert van der Meulen 01 Jun '26

01 Jun '26

Hoi allemaal, hi all, (English text can be found below) Met Lekker Weer NLNOG! in het verschiet voor aankomende vrijdag, willen we alvast jullie aandacht vestigen op het grootste NLNOG event elk jaar: NLNOG Day 2026. Afgelopen jaren heeft NLNOG Day altijd plaatsgevonden in Podium Mozaiek in Amsterdam. (English text) With Lekker Weer NLNOG! coming up this Friday, we'd like to get your attention for some news on the biggest NLNOG event every year: NLNOG Day 2026. Over the past years NLNOG Day has always been organized in Podium Mozaiek in Amsterdam. Podium Mozaiek is a nice location, where we have always enjoyed organizing our yearly event, but we have also noticed that the demand for tickets is bigger than what the location can comfortably accommodate. For this reason the board has been searching for an event location that is centrally located, affordable and can sustain a larger audience. It was primarily important for us to retain NLNOG's character, so everyone can count on an inspiring and full (technical) programme. This year NLNOG Day 2026 will take place on the 4th of September in Gooiland in Hilversum (https://gooilandevents.nl/) The structure of the event remains the same: a day full of exciting, educational and interesting presentations, drinks, lunch and bites. We did replace the closing dinner by drinks and snacks after the talks are done. To fill the programme, the Call for Presentations has been opened as of today. If you have a topic you'd like to dive into on stage, please send your proposal via https://nlnog.net/cfp . You can also find more information on potential topics, our target audience, and the requirements for a talk there. Should you have any doubts if your presentation fits NLNOG Day, please let us know. We'd be happy to take a look at your presentation and how you can make it even better! If you'd like to chat with us about the suitability of your topic, you are obviously also always welcome to contact us. If you know of another good presenter for NLNOG Day, or you have a subject you'd like to see represented, you can share this with us via pc(a)nlnog.net. This way we can see if we can arrange something for that particular topic. We hope we'll see many nice responses to the CFP! The deadline for submissions is July 20th, 20206. Met vriendelijke groet, kind regards, On behalf of the NLNOG Board Robert van der Meulen
